AUSTIN, Texas -- Four LeTourneau men's basketball players combined for 98 points and the YellowJackets shot a season-high 67.9 percent with 13 3-pointers in a 112-96 rout of Concordia Texas on the road in ASC action on Thursday night.
Warren Richardson (36 points) and
Walker Blaine (23 points) both set career-highs, while
Deonte Jackson had 26 points and
Christian Adams just missed a triple-double with 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Richardson went 15-of-18 from the field and added eight rebounds and four assists.
Jackson hit five 3-pointers and Blaine tallied four as the YellowJackets made 13 triples on the night and shot 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from downtown.
LeTourneau (9-10, 6-6 ASC) had its best offensive night of the season overall. The YellowJackets made a season-best 67.9 percent (38-of-56) with those 13 3-pointers to go along with a season-high 28 assists. LeTourneau scored 56 points in both halves, the most all year.
It was the most points in a game for a LeTourneau team since the YellowJackets had 114 in a win over Belhaven on Feb. 22, 2020.
LeTourneau hit nine of its first 11 shots in the game and quickly built a six-point lead (24-18) after a Blaine layup with 12:21 left in the first half.
Concordia got within one at 40-39 with four minutes left in the period before LeTourneau ended the first half with a flurry of points. The YellowJackets used a 16-4 run to close out the half, culminating with a driving layup from Adams in the final seconds of the period to give the guests a 56-43 lead at the break.
LeTourneau shot 61 percent in the first half and then topped that in the second half by connecting on 76 percent (19-of-25).
Blaine hit three 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the second half as the YellowJackets picked right back up where they left off in the first half. The lead stretched to 24 (86-62) on a Jackson jumper with 10:33 left in the game.
Concordia trimmed the lead to 12 later in the period, but back-to-back buckets from Richardson sealed the game with two minutes left.
LeTourneau also went 23-of-28 from the foul line and outrebounded the host Tornados, 34-28.
Donovan Stafford had 33 points to lead the Tornados.
