Women's Soccer Scores Three against ETBU in Draw

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer scored three in a draw with conference rival East Texas Baptist on Saturday evening.

LeTourneau (6-4-4, 0-3-2 ASC) started the match with a quick strike as Drew Lessert scored 43 seconds after the whistle blew to start the match. Chanel Kemball-Cook played a ball to Lessert who worked a touch past the keeper who came out of the box to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

East Texas Baptist (5-2-4, 2-2-1 ASC)did not wait around too long to respond as Carly Wyatt scored on the other side in the fifth minute of the match, assisted by Giselle Laredo.

Both teams were then able to settle into the match as it played out. Possession went back and forth with a couple of opportunities on each side.

No one was able to convert until Tiger Gabrielle Casimiro committed a foul in the box providing Kemball-Cook the opportunity to bury a penalty kick in the 31st minute to regain the YellowJacket lead.

With a 2-1 advantage Kelauna Cruz marked her fourth save of the match.

In the 39th minute, the Tigers evened the score with a goal off the boot of Cheyenne Vick as teams were then level at 2-2 to go into the half.

The Tigers outshot the YellowJackets 13-5 and 7-4 on frame in the first period. The Tigers also had four corner kicks to LeTourneau's zero.

East Texas Baptist changed keepers to start the second half as Addison Funk played the first 45' but Megan McCarthy came in to replace her for the second period.

The YellowJackets found another goal in the 61st minute as Katherine Golec played a pass to her Moran's feet who then powered it through McCarthy's fingertips and to the back of the net.

The Jackets held the 3-2 advantage for the next 21 minutes as East Texas Baptist started to get more aggressive. The YellowJackets were unable to hold off the Tigers as they tied it in the 82nd minute.

The final score of 3-3 means both teams earn a point in the conference standings.

Cruz marked eight saves on the night as she played all 90 minutes in net for LeTourneau.
