Women's Soccer Draws with Ozarks

LONGVIEW, Texas -- In a tight match throughout, Jordan Williams's first half goal evened the score and the LeTourneau women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Ozarks on Thursday night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

It was the second straight draw for LeTourneau (6-4-5, 0-3-3 ASC) and the fourth time in the last five meetings with Ozarks (7-6-1, 1-4-1 ASC) the two teams have played to a tie.

Ozarks struck first in the third minute. Cassidy Hughes' corner kick was headed in by Angelina Lotz to give the visiting Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

LeTourneau held an edge in time of possession in the first half and played that into a game-tying strike in the 23rd minute. Clarissa Martinez played the ball out wide and crossed into the box where Williams fought through two Ozarks defenders to get a touch and put the ball into the net from close range.

The goal was Williams' eighth of the year, while Martinez picked up the assist.

Both teams had limited good looks in the second half. LeTourneau had a chance late in the half when Ozarks keeper Melanie Glossup came out to help on a clearance and got out of position as the YellowJackets kept the ball in the box. However, the Ozarks defense stood tall and LeTourneau could not get off a shot in the sequence.

Kelauna Cruz made a save on the only Ozarks attempt on target in the second half as she kept Alexandra Kasper's shot out of the net in the 79th minute to preserve the tie.

Cruz made three saves, while Glossup collected two saves for Ozarks. The Eagles held a 13-6 shot advantage. Chanel Kemball-Cook and Williams each had three shots for the YellowJackets.
