LONGVIEW, Texas --
Yari Ortiz and
Hannah Payan both had double-digit kills, but the LeTourneau volleyball team fell to East Texas Baptist, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15), on Tuesday night inside Solheim Arena.
Ortiz had 11 kills and Payan added 10 kills with 11 digs for LeTourneau (7-11, 5-5 ASC) in the loss.
Reina Lawson tallied a double-double with 31 assists and 13 digs with two blocks, while
Allison Smith totaled seven kills and eight total blocks (one solo, seven assisted).
Morgan Nix recorded 18 digs and
Faith Keating added 11.
The match saw a similar story unfold from the first meeting between the teams: LerTourneau took the first set, but ETBU responded to win the final three sets and the match.
LeTourneau limited the Tigers to a .175 hitting percentage in the first set and took the game, 25-23. The YellowJackets took a 5-4 lead on a block from Smith and Payan and never trailed again in the set. The lead extended to four (14-10) on a
Kaci Monk kill before LeTourneau ended the set with another Monk kill.
ETBU (17-3, 10-1 ASC) responded with a 25-20 set two victory behind 19 kills and a .366 hitting percentage. The Tigers then led for the majority of the third set en route to a 25-22 victory and a 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set saw seven ties and a pair of lead changes before the Tigers pulled ahead by six after four straight points. ETBU ended the set on a 10-2 run to cap the four-set victory.
Graycee Mosley had 25 kills and 18 digs to lead ETBU, while Avery Reid had 14 kills and Hannah Perry 13. Sydney Temple totaled 28 assists and Lillie Hill had 19 digs.
