LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team honored its six seniors before falling to UT Dallas 2-0 on Saturday evening.
Heather Fellows, Drew Lessert, Tatum Fenton, Brooke Vaughn, Madi Langford, and Alexa Polanco were all honored before the match for their efforts toward the program.Â
LeTourneau (6-5-5, 0-4-3 ASC) held with UT Dallas (9-0-6, 2-0-4 ASC) as it was a pair of second-half goals that gave the Comets the advantage.
The first half was scoreless as the YellowJacket defense held strong only allowing three shots to land on frame, which Kelauna Cruz handled.
The YellowJackets landed a shot of their own on frame as Jordan Williams put a ball on the lower right corner, but Jade Press made the save for the visitors.
Langford came in to take a corner kick in the 40th minute, which led to a Shelby Smith shot that went just high.Â
The game remained scoreless as they went into the break.
In the 53rd minute, UT Dallas made use of a set-piece from a corner kick as Ashlynn Thomas had a goal from the Sierra Foster Assist.
LeTourneau fought right back as Lessert, Zoe Harbison, and Camryn Robbins all found shots within the next 20 minutes. However, none of them were able to find the back of the net.
The Comets then played a long ball over the top of the pressing YellowJackets where Kate Crowe was able to take the ball and find the back netting to extend the lead to two in the 76th minute.
Chanel Kemball-Cook put up three shots in the next five minutes, two of them were on net as Press added a couple of saves to her tally.Â
Cruz was in net for all 90 minutes and marked five saves for LeTourneau. Press was across the way as she counted four saves.
