BROWNWOOD, Texas --
Gabriella Sanchez scored in the 10th minute, but two goals in the second half lifted host Howard Payne to a 3-1 victory over the LeTourneau women's soccer team on Friday in ASC action in Brownwood.
It was the final conference match of the season for LeTourneau (6-6-5, 0-5-3 ASC).
Sanchez notched her third score of the year in the 10th minute to put the YellowJackets ahead 1-0. She collected a deflected ball outside the box and rocketed a shot into the upper right corner to score giving LeTourneau a one-goal edge.
That margin stood until the 38th minute. Howard Payne (8-6-2, 4-2-2 ASC) evened the match with a score from Tatum Mercer and took a 1-1 score into halftime.
Howard Payne seized control over the final 45 minutes to pull away for the win. Ella Alvarado had the go-ahead score in the 70th minute before Brenna Douthit added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to seal the match.
Kelauna Cruz made six saves for LeTourneau in her 90 minutes at the net, while Howard Payne's Emily Williamson tallied one save.
Drew Lessert,
Chanel Kemball-Cook, and Sanchez each took a shot in the contest for LeTourneau.

LeTourneau concludes the season on Saturday at Sul Ross State (11 a.m.) in a non-conference match.
