MY LETU STORY: Heather Fellows

NOTE: This is part of a series on letuathletics.com with feature stories written by senior student-athletes about their time at LeTourneau and the impact it has made on them.

Looking back at the last four years I’ve spent at LeTourneau, I am overwhelmed with memories. I have had so many different experiences and have gotten to meet so many new people.

My journey to get here wasn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be.

When I was in high school, I decided that I wasn’t going to play college soccer and that I wanted to go to a big school to study kinesiology. It wasn’t until I decided to study aviation that I found LeTourneau. Only a couple weeks after discovering LeTourneau, I ran into the coach at a tournament I was playing in. Ultimately, after finding a school that offered aviation as well as giving me the opportunity to keep playing, I decided to try it out.

Being a student athlete has been such a great experience, and it is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

My freshman year I came in during COVID, so things looked a little different. Some classes were online, and our season got pushed back a semester. Luckily, though, this gave us more time to find time to hang out with people and make new friends. My best friends that I have now are ones that I met my first couple days of being on campus.

The friendships that I have made here have meant so much to me. They are what has gotten me through the past four years. I have made so many memories with them that I will remember for a lifetime. The friends I have made here have made my college experience so enjoyable. They have supported me and celebrated with me in my highs and have been there for me through my lows, and I can’t express enough how thankful I am for them.

For as long as I can remember, soccer has been my escape and my outlet. Throughout my many years of playing, I have learned so much about what it means to be a part of a team. Soccer has helped shape me into the person I am today. The four years that I have played here have been full of many ups and downs, and I am very lucky to have had the support of my teammates through all of it.

My experience as a student athlete has been so fun, and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to play soccer while getting to study what I love. My professors and coaches have been so accommodating and have helped me to keep a good balance of academics and athletics.

Being a student athlete has been such a great experience, and it is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

I want to say thank you to my teammates. You guys have made my experience here so much better. The memories we made together I will always look back on and smile. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. I’ve loved being a part of this team, and it’s been an honor to be your captain.

I want to thank all my coaches that I’ve had throughout my time playing soccer for helping me get to the place I am now. I also want to thank my parents and family for always giving me their unconditional support. Being a part of this team has given me so many memories and so many friends.

I am so grateful for the opportunity that I was given to play this sport for so long.
