LONGVIEW, Texas -- The bounce went LeTourneau's way on Saturday afternoon.
McMurry's Tristan Holden had his putback attempt at the buzzer go in-and-out and the LeTourneau men's basketball team hung for a wild, 95-93, win over the visiting War Hawks on Saturday afternoon inside Solheim Arena.
Caedmon Liebengood and
Deonte Jackson each had 19 points in the win, with Liebengood adding six rebounds and a monstrous dunk in the second half.
Walker Blaine had 16 points and
Alex Ferrell scored a season-high 16 points to go with six rebounds in the victory that snapped a three-game skid for the YellowJackets (4-3, 1-1 ASC).
LeTourneau led for just over half the game, but it came down to the wire to seal the victory.
The YellowJackets used a 7-0 run over a two-minute span late in the second half to take an 88-81 lead after a Jackson 3-pointer with 3:34 left in the game. After both teams traded empty possessions, McMurry had one last chance with 12 seconds to go and trailing by two (95-93). Coco Rose drove the lane, but missed the layup and Holden grabbed the rebound and put up a quick jumper. The ball went halfway down and popped back out as time expired giving LeTourneau the win.
