Women's Hoops Drops One Late on the Road

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- LeTourneau gives up a late lead to Ozarks losing 67-63 on Saturday afternoon.

LeTourneau will finish the season with an 8-17 record, going 4-14 in conference play. Ozarks also wraps up the year going 9-16, 6-12 in the conference.

AJ Thomas put up 17 points and was a rebound away from a double-double with nine on the day. Bailey Broughton scored 18 and found four assists before fouling out late.

LeTourneau opened up their side of the scoring after being down early with a Broughton 3-pointer. 

Thomas tied it up with a layup from her steal, assisted by Haylee Jordan. The Jackets trailed after one quarter as the Eagles took a 17-12 lead into the break.

The second quarter was a slow start for LeTourneau as they found themselves behind 26-16 with just under five minutes left on the clock. 

The YellowJackets went on an 11-0 run to take the lead before the half coming from Broughton's three 3-pointers all off the assists from Kyndall Hardeman. LeTourneau led 27-26 going into the second half.

The Eagles tied it up with a made free throw from Makya Perryman as the back-and-forth game continued. The two teams traded blows before the Jackets went on a quick 6-0 run to extend the lead making it 45-39 before the end of the third.

The YellowJackets worked the lead up to nine points with a Hardeman jumper. Ozarks fought back to tie the game up at 57-57 with just three minutes to play.

Thomas would make a driving layup through a foul to put the Jackets ahead 61-59 with about a minute to play. However, the Eagles would take the lead with a 3-point jumper from Lili Garcia with under a minute to play. Amanda Turpin would ice the game out as she made three free throws to stretch the lead to 65-61 with 10 seconds left on the clock.

Hardeman finished with eight points, four boards, and three assists. Ty Moon put up eight points as well to go along with her five boards.
