CONWAY, Ark. -- With an adjusted schedule this week due to weather, the LeTourneau women's tennis team returned to action for the first time in 12 days on Thursday evening and fell at Hendrix, 7-2, in Conway.
LeTourneau (3-7) was originally schedule to play Ozarks on Thursday, but rain forced changes. The YellowJackets played Hendrix a day earlier than scheduled and will face Ozarks tomorrow.
The YellowJackets battled throughout the match, but came up short in several close matches.
Hendrix (5-6) took all three doubles matches to grab a 3-0 lead.
Elizabeth Moreau and
Clara Brisman took Hendrix's Emma Self and Josie Leffingwell to a tiebreak at the No. 2 flight before falling 8-7(4).
Brandy Weems and
Emma Boulanger fell at the top flight to Eleanor Burks and Avery Stephens, 8-3, while
Amber Van Duyn and
Kylie Weeks suffered an 8-4 loss at No. 3 to McKenzie McCready and Ayden Huckelbury.
Brisman notched LeTourneau's first point of the match with her win at No. 4 over McCready, who retired in the second set. Weeks, making her debut on the team, took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kate Adcox at No. 6.
Moreau lost a tough matchup with Self at the No. 2 spot 7-5, 6-4, while Weems fell to Stephens 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 position. Boulanger was defeated by Leffingwell at No. 3 6-2, 6-0 and Van Duyn took Huckelbury to a third-set before falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
