CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- In a tight match throughout, the LeTourneau men's tennis team came up short in a 5-4 loss at Ozarks on Friday afternoon in ASC action.
The loss drops LeTourneau to 3-6 on the year and 0-1 in ASC play. Ozarks goes to 5-7 and 1-1 in conference action.
Ozarks took two-of-three in doubles play, but all three matches were tight. LeTourneau's point in doubles came at the top flight as
Julian Lee and
Zach Farris edged Ozarks' Hikaru Yamaya and Kento Iwahara by an 8-6 final.
That match was one of two wins on the day for both Lee and Farris. At the No. 1 spot in singles, Lee defeated Aaron Gambrell 6-4, 6-2 for what was the YellowJackets' third point of the contest. Farris collected his second win with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Joshua Wilde at the No. 3 spot, his eighth singles win of the season.
Ozarks took the second and third flights in doubles to grab a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The LeTourneau duo of
Andres Urrutia and
Miles Grubbs narrowly fell to Gambrell and TJ Saniseng at the No. 2 position, 8-6.
John Lewis collected the fourth point of the match for LeTourneau with his three-set win at No. 6 over Jan Puvill Fuertes 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. That was just after Ozarks clinched the match as Iwahara outlasted Urrutia in three sets at the No. 2 spot 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
