BELTON, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team started off its road trip with a commanding 5-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night in ASC action.
LeTourneau (13-13, 7-6 ASC) is now tied for fourth in the ASC as we near the halfway point of the conference schedule.
The YellowJackets got rolling early with
Andrew Klingenstein and
Ethan Wood finding themselves on base with no outs in the top of the second.
Lane Williams put the ball in play allowing Klingenstein to score, but is not credited with an RBI as he grounded into a double play.
The Cru answered back in the bottom of the fourth when Rhett Grosz scored an RBI single allowing Hayden Guerin to score and tie the game at one a piece.
LeTourneau opened the game up in the top of the seventh where the Jackets scored three runs. The bases were loaded for
Dane Jones who put a productive ball into play allowing Williams to cross home plate and take the lead 2-1 with one out.Â
Devin Greaff was plated on a passed ball to make it 3-1 with only one out still.
Cameron Pfafman finished the scoring with a single to allow Jones to score giving the Jackets a 4-1 lead before they went to the stretch.
Kyle Masonave added to the YellowJacket lead with a sacrifice fly for
Devin Greaff to be able to score and put the final run up for the visitors.
Alex Palczewski (0-2) got the loss for his two innings of work. He allowed one hit, three earned runs, and marked two strikeouts.
Riley Davis (4-1) got the win for his 7.0 innings pitched. Davis allowed just six hits, one earned run, and totaled four strikeouts.
Cruz Cox closed out the game allowing just two hits over his 2.0 innings pitched for his second save of the year.

LeTourneau will finish up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader against Mary Hardin-Baylor set for 1 PM.
