LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team had a no-hitter through five innings before Centenary found a few hits and a way to a 6-2 win over the YellowJackets on Tuesday at Conrad-Vernon Field.
LeTourneau (7-8) dropped the midweek game, showing eight different pitchers on the evening.
The YellowJackets found the scoreboard first in the third inning when
Lane Williams scored on a wild pitch.Â
Centenary (5-3) answered by scoring similarly when Cade LaBruyere scored on a wild pitch. making it 1-1 in the top of the fourth. The Gents scored a single run in both the fifth and the sixth to put them ahead 3-1 before finding an extra three runs in the seventh.
Dane Jones slugged one to left center that reached over the fence on the 1-1 pitch. Maysonave followed that with a hit to right field, however, the Jackets could not find any more runs as a strikeout ended the inning.
Shane Salzman saw the mound first for the home team. He struck out a pair of batters in 2.0 innings pitched.
Zac Schneider relieved Salzman and struck out a batter and walked another through one inning.
Hayden Norris followed with an inning to his name as he found a pair of strikeouts, but allowed an earned run.
TJ Spitdowski (0-1) got the loss for his inning pitched allowing an earned run and a walk.
Will Bond took the bump in the eighth inning and he got out with a strikeout to his name and no runs against.
Cruz Cox finished it up for the hosts, he allowed a hit with no runs.
Christian Diaz (1-0) got the win for the Gents for his 1.2 innings pitched. He found a pair of strikeouts and no runs against.
