ABILENE, Texas --
Hayden Norris had four hits and five RBIs and the LeTourneau baseball team used an eight-run seventh inning to earn a 14-10 comeback win at McMurry in game one of the ASC series on Friday night in Abilene.
LeTourneau (15-17, 9-10 ASC) scored 12 runs across a three-inning stretch from the sixth through the eighth innings to erase a 3-1 deficit and take the series opener.
Norris, making his second start of the year in the lineup, produced his first collegiate hit, home run, and RBI in the same game. The sophomore went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and five RBIs to lead the YellowJackets' 12-hit parade.
Cole Thompson,
Dane Jones, and
Devin Greaff all had two hits apiece in the victory. Jones was 2-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Andrew Klingenstein put the YellowJackets on the board with his solo homer in the fourth inning, but LeTourneau trailed 3-1 heading into the sixth. The homer was Klingenstein's first of the season.
In the sixth, LeTourneau tied the score on
Ethan Wood's two-run single. In the seventh, not only did LeTourneau take the lead but the guests blew the game open with eight runs on five hits. Jones doubled to start the inning and later smashed a three-run home run to cap the frame. The homer was Jones' ninth of the year.
Lane Williams had an RBI fielder's choice before Norris drove in two with his single through the infield. Greaff followed with an RBI single of his own to give LeTourneau an 8-3 lead before Jones blasted his three-run homer.
The YellowJackets poured on three more runs in the eighth as Norris launched his first career home run to left field to make it 14-3.
McMurry (12-18, 7-12 ASC) made it interesting late as the host War Hawks scored five runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth before
TJ Spitdowski finished off the win.
LeTourneau drew a season-high 12 walks, led by three from
Carter Amarantos.
Zac Schneider (2-0) got the win in relief as he threw two scoreless innings allowing just two hits.
Riley Davis made the start and went five innings allowing three runs.
McMurry's Grayson Winter (2-2) got the loss in relief. Riley Hood and Koy Carpenter each had three hits for the War Hawks.

LeTourneau and McMurry finish the series with a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m.).
