Baseball Drops Game One to Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team dropped the first game of the series 16-7 Friday night at Hardin-Simmons.

LeTourneau (17-18, 11-11 ASC) started their final road series for the regular season before coming home next week and currently sit fourth in the conference.

The YellowJackets popped open the scoring to take a quick 2-0 lead by the likes of a Cameron Pfafman sacrifice fly and an Andrew Klingenstein base hit to plate Dane Jones after the first half inning.

Hardin-Simmons (15-20, 10-12 ASC) also had a quick start offensively with their four runs to answer the Jackets in the bottom of the first. The Cowboys then took control in the following pair of innings extending the lead to nine, 11-2, after three innings. Colby Seltzer, Gannon Azios, Jett Forest, and Kyler Reed all marked RBIs to help contribute.

LeTourneau fought back as they found a pair of runs in the sixth with Cole Thompson and Klingenstein tallying an RBI each to bring the score to 12-5 after five and a half.

Lane Williams and Devin Greaff both marked an RBI in the later innings to bring the score to its final resting place of 16-7 in favor of the hosts.

Jones, Pfafman, and Klingenstein all had two hits on the day with four plate appearances.

Seltzer led the way for Hardin-Simmons offensively with five RBIs on three hits. Karson Leatherwood also marked three hits with his three at-bats.
