MARSHALL, Texas -- The No. 6 seeded LeTourneau baseball team opened the ASC Tournament with an 11-1 loss to No. 3 seed UT Dallas on Thursday at Woods Field on the campus of East Texas Baptist.
LeTourneau (19-22) will face the loser of No. 4 Hardin-Simmons and No. 5 Sul Ross State on Thursday at 5 p.m.
UT Dallas (24-17) opened up an 8-0 lead after three innings on the YellowJackets after Jaeger Self's two-out grand slam in the second inning and three more Comet runs in the third inning.
Lane Williams' RBI ground out in the sixth was all LeTourneau could muster off UT Dallas starter Ryan Vera.
Cameron Pfafman and
Andrew Klingenstein each had two hits as the YellowJackets totaled five in the loss.

Aman Patel (4-7) got the loss. Relievers
Kyle Maysonave,
TJ Spitdowski, and
Hayden Norris combined to allow just one earned run over 3.2 innings of work.
Vera (7-2) picked up the win as he went all seven innings. Luke Finn had a pair of hits to lead the Comets.

LeTourneau faces either Sul Ross State or Hardin-Simmons on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Marshall.
