Williams Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Jordan Williams notched a second straight two-goal match and the LeTourneau women's soccer team dominated Birmingham-Southern in a 3-0 victory on Saturday at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

The win was the second straight for LeTourneau (2-1-2). It was the first all-time meeting between the YellowJackets and Birmingham-Southern (2-2-3) in women's soccer.

Williams scored the eventual game-winning goal with seven seconds left in the first half and collected another score late in the second half to put the match away. The freshman leads the team with four goals on the year after scoring twice in last Saturday's win over Millsaps.

It appeared the match would be scoreless heading into halftime, but that quickly changed in the final seconds. Williams collected a loose ball well beyond the box and rifled a shot towards the net. Birmingham-Southern keeper Grace Elsevier had the ball go through her hands and it rolled into the net for the goal.

Williams then added an extra score in the 88th minute as she received a pass in the box from Brooke Vaughn and finished from the left side to give the YellowJackets a 3-0 advantage.

In between Williams' scores, Chanel Kemball-Cook registered a goal for a third straight match. Kemball-Cook got an outstanding through ball from Tatum Fenton that put her into space inside the box and she finished past Elsevier for her third goal of the year that made it 2-0 in the 84th minute.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MATCH

Williams and Kemball-Cook have combined for seven of the eight goals LeTourneau has scored this season.

The defense was again outstanding for LeTourneau. The YellowJackets earned a third shutout this season after holding a 24-9 shot advantage. Kelauna Cruz notched her second complete clean sheet of the season as she made four saves. Alexa Polanco and Heather Fellows each played 90 minutes in the back as the YellowJackets have held the opposition to just two scores this year.

Elsevier made eight saves in the loss for the visiting Panthers.
