Final-Second Strike Nets Draw for Women's Soccer at Concordia

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- A goal from Jordan Williams with four seconds left in regulation secured a 2-2 draw for the LeTourneau women's soccer team at Concordia Texas in the ASC opener on Thursday night in Round Rock.

The tie snapped a five-match win streak for LeTourneau (5-1-3, 0-0-1 ASC), but the YellowJackets extended an unbeaten streak to a program-record seven with the well-earned tie.

In the final minute, it looked like LeTourneau would come up just short. However, the YellowJackets put together a flurry of opportunities in the last 60 seconds. Tatum Fenton drove one towards the net with 40 seconds left that went through the hands of the Concordia keeper to give LeTourneau a corner kick.

That was the first of two corners for the YellowJackets in the waning seconds. On the second attempt, Williams played it short to Fenton who got around one defender then gave it back to Williams. On the far left side of the box, Williams drove one into the back of the net with only four seconds remaining to cap the frantic finish and give LeTourneau a tie.

The score was Williams' seventh of the year. It also capped a comeback for LeTourneau as the YellowJackets trailed the entire second half after Concordia took a 2-1 lead into the break. The late strike marked the second time this season the YellowJackets scored in the final five minutes of a match to earn a draw.

LeTourneau struck first in the contest as Chanel Kemball-Cook once again found the back of the net. The sensational freshman tallied her ninth goal of the year in the eighth minute as she collected a through ball from Brandy Moran and scored from distance to put the YellowJackets ahead 1-0.

The dynamic freshman duo of Kemball-Cook and Williams have combined for 16 goals this season.

LeTourneau saw its shutout streak come to an end in the 13th minute when Erin Folkner converted on a penalty kick. Maddie Oberholtzer added a goal for the host Tornados in the 38th minute to give Concordia a 2-1 lead.

LeTourneau's shutout stretch lasted 510:22 of game play, a program record, and spanned parts of seven matches.

Concordia (0-4-5, 0-0-1 ASC) held a 14-11 shot advantage. Kelauna Cruz made one save in her 90 minutes at the net for LeTourneau, while Lora Tresco made three for the Tornados.
