LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team was outlasted 62-55 by No. 14/15 ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor at home on Saturday afternoon in ASC play.
Bailey Broughton tallied a season-high 20 points leading the YellowJackets on the day. Allie Buchanan also set her season-high with 12 points to pair with her six rebounds.
LeTourneau (5-15, 2-10 ASC) trailed 37-26 coming out of the halftime break and got right to work with a layup from Buchanan.Â
Mariana Espinosa then drained a ball from beyond the arc to bring the deficit down to six (37-31) in the third quarter.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (17-2, 10-1 ASC), ranked No. 14 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 and 15th in the WBCA poll, found a steal and a quick jumper before Broughton put one through the net from 3-point range.
Kylie Weeks, later, found Broughton who put in a bucket on the fastbreak to make it a one-possession game (42-39). The Cru would extend their lead up to seven to end the quarter leaving it 48-41 with 10 minutes to play.
Buchanan and Weeks found back-to-back buckets early in the fourth quarter, thanks to a Broughton steal bringing it to a one-possession game once again (50-47).Â
The Cru were able to find a bucket from Ella Hartmann and Jayden Widener to help strengthen the lead as they would hold on to win 62-55.
Haylee Jordan snagged 10 rebounds and scored nine points leaving herself just shy of a double-double.Â
Mary Hardin-Baylor scored 27 points off turnovers. They also took advantage of second-chance opportunities outscoring LeTourneau, 14-11.Â
The YellowJackets outdid the visitors in the paint with a 26-24 edge.
