BELTON, Texas -- Two first-half goals were enough for Mary Hardin-Baylor to post a 2-0 victory over the LeTourneau women's soccer team on Thursday evening in Belton.
Kelauna Cruz made 10 saves in the loss for LeTourneau (1-9-1, 0-3 ASC). Mary Hardin-Baylor (8-2-1, 2-1 ASC) scored twice in the first 17 minutes of the match.
The host Crusaders got on the board in the 11th minute when Ella Wheeless put away a corner kick from Kaitlynn Neill. The goal was Wheeless' first of the season.Â
UMHB added to its lead in the 17th minute on Natalie Mason's sixth goal of the year, assisted by Morgen Rathmell.
Cruz and the LeTourneau defense kept the YellowJackets in the match the rest of the way. Cruz made six saves in the second half alone and it marked the third time this year she recorded double-digit saves in a match.
LeTourneau had a pair of shots on target in the loss.
Sarah Wyatt put one on frame in the 23rd minute and
Gabriella Sanchez had one in the 71st minute.
Morgan Oliver and Emma Edwards each made one save in their 45 minutes apiece at the net for UMHB.
