BROWNWOOD, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer dropped a road match to Howard Payne on Thursday, 2-0.
LeTourneau drops to 1-11-1 (0-5-0 ASC), while Howard Payne improves to 6-7-1 (2-3-0 ASC).
Kelauna Cruz, the junior from Magnolia, Texas continued to make plays in the net for the YellowJackets, collecting 10 saves in the match, which was the fourth time this season she has recorded double-digit save efforts.
Clarissa Martinez,
Jaye Dugan, and
Camryn Robbins played all 90 minutes on the defensive end, showing their resilience and hustle on the back line.
Howard Payne got on the board early in the match, as a shot from Alayna Lopez found the back of the net in the second minute, making the score 1-0.Â
LeTourneau's first attempt on net came from
Gabriella Sanchez in the 23rd minute, but Landry Combs saved the shot.
Howard Payne added their second goal in the 25th minute off the foot of Kiana Chastain, making the YellowJackets deficit 2-0, and that score remained until the end of the half.
Cruz saved three shots in the first five minutes of the second half, keeping LeTourneau in it. Later in the half, the YellowJackets created a series of chances, giving
Sarah Wyatt and
Chanel Kemball-Cook shots on net, but Combs was just able to stop both of them, keeping the score 2-0. Those would be the final chances for LeTourneau, with the 2-0 final holding the rest of the way.
Landry Combs recorded her fourth shutout of the season, saving three shots for Howard Payne.

LeTourneau stays on the road over the weekend, traveling to Abilene and preparing to face ASC foe Hardin-Simmons at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
