JACKSON, Miss. -- LeTourneau volleyball earned a clean sweep against Belhaven on Tuesday evening, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16).
LeTourneau improves to 10-13 (2-4 ASC), while Belhaven moves to 10-12 (8-3 CCS).
Yari Ortiz (11),
Kaylyn Taylor (9), and
Kaci Monk (6) were the main contributors in the kills department, with Ortiz and Monk adding three service aces apiece as well to aid the offense.
Reina Lawson (18) and
Grace Talkington (15) combined to head up the assists unit, while the Smith sisters, Allison (3), and Emma (2) combined for five blocks.
Morgan Nix contributed 25 digs to complete the all-around performance by the Jackets.
In a non-conference road tilt with the Blazers, the YellowJackets rallied from a 13-10 deficit in the first set, taking command with a 6-0 run to put the set out of reach and eventually win, 25-19. Ortiz had three kills during that 6-0 run, and
Emma Smith punctuated the set with a kill.
The second set was not as close, with three kills from Taylor sparking a 7-0 run early, putting LeTourneau ahead for good. Taylor would later give the YellowJackets a 2-0 set advantage with her fourth kill of the set.
A 7-2 third set run put the match in the YellowJackets' sights, thanks to
Nora Lockhart's two kills and one block in that period. A match-ending 6-0 run included Taylor notching three more kills, and an ace from Ortiz gave the sweep to LeTourneau.
The Blazers were paced by Emma Garner in kills (8), Miriam Ateca in assists (19), and Jade De La Torre in digs (12).

The YellowJackets return home for the first time in almost a month for a three-match homestand, beginning with a contest against ASC opponent Howard Payne on Friday at 6 p.m.
