MARSHALL, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team traveled to face conference rival East Texas Baptist (5-8-1, 3-4-0 ASC) on Saturday evening to end a long road trip. LeTourneau (1-13-1, 0-7-0 ASC) fought valiantly posting 10 shots and finding the back of the net late, but ultimately this effort was not enough resulting in a 3-1 loss.
The YellowJackets fell in to an early 2-0 deficit conceding two quick goals both scored by Makayla Baxter in the 22nd minute. After this rocky start LeTourneau quickly regained defensive composure not allowing another score for the remainder of the half.
East Texas Baptist would again strike quickly to begin the second half jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the 50th minute with a goal scored by Grace Shurley. This would be the final goal for the Tigers as LeTourneau goalkeeper
Aleena Tuers gathered a pair of second half saves to prevent the Tigers from scoring again.
Chanel Kemball-Cook mounted a late comeback effort for the YellowJackets scoring her fourth goal of the season in the 67th minute. This was the the 15th career goal for the sophomore.
Tuers made her second career start for the YellowJackets notching four saves. Cadence Tischler also recorded four saves for the home Tigers.
