LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer was bested by UT Dallas on Thursday evening, 5-1, at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
The YellowJackets fall to 1-14-1 (0-7-0 ASC), while the Comets improve to 7-7-1.
Chanel Kemball-Cook scored her fifth goal of the season in the second half, whizzing the ball past the defense, while getting a beautiful assist from
Natalie Alvarado.Â
Abi King made her first start of the season in goal for the LeTourneau squad and promptly impacted the match defensively, earning two saves in the first 12 minutes of action.Â
The Comets were able to earn four goals in the first half, three of them from Chelsea Vilca, who was able to sneak some shots past the valiant King and the YellowJackets defense. The fourth was scored by Amelia Griffin in the 7th minute.
In total, King saved six first half shots, playing well between the pipes for LeTourneau.
In the second half,
Aleena Tuers, who was named ASC Defensive Player of the Week on October 22, began as the keeper. Tuers stopped her first three shots faced as the YellowJackets kept the match at its previous score for a good portion of the second half.Â
