LONGVIEW, Texas --
Deonte Jackson had another 30-point game and the LeTourneau men's basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 90-69 victory over George Fox on Monday night inside Solheim Arena.
Jackson finished with 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting and three steals. It was Jackson's second straight 30-point game and his third overall this season.
Caedmon Liebengood added a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while
Connor Miller had 11 points with six rebounds and five assists.
LeTourneau (9-2) has won eight of its last nine games overall.
The YellowJackets were magnificent shooting the ball once again. LeTourneau made 55 percent (33-of-60) from the field with 10 3-pointers and went 14-of-16 from the foul line. It was the sixth time this season the YellowJackets have shot 50 percent or better from the floor and the fifth time with 10 or more 3-pointers. It was also the fourth time this season LeTourneau has reached 90 points in a game.
In the first three minutes of the game, it did not look like it would be a high-scoring affair as George Fox (2-5) took a 6-0 lead. LeTourneau strung together a 20-2 run over six-minute stretch to open up a 20-8 lead. A Jackson bucket capped the run as he had six points during the streak and Liebengood had eight points.
LeTourneau took a 40-38 lead into the break after a breakaway layup from
Cooper Smith with 23 seconds left in the period.
A big run was the deciding factor in the second half. The YellowJackets used a 10-0 run to break a 51-51 tie and take the lead for good midway through the half. Jackson and Miller each made 3-pointers, with Miller's giving the YellowJackets a 61-51 lead with 10:48 left.
George Fox briefly trimmed the lead to single-digits, but LeTourneau pushed away and finished the final 13 minutes of the game outscoring the visiting Bruins 39-18.
LeTourneau connected on 55.9 percent (19-of-34) in the second half alone and made six 3-pointers in the half.
The YellowJackets had 10 different players score. Smith added five points with a game-high six assists, while
Teigan Edwards also had five points to go with five assists.
Walker Blaine had four points and five rebounds.
Dalton White made his first career field goal with a 3-pointer late in the game.
Branson Lynn,
Logan Brinkoeter, and
Ezra Seay also made appearances in the scoring column.
George Fox was led by 18 points from Noah Marte and 12 from Aiden Price. The Bruins made just 36.2 percent (25-of-69) from the field.
