Miller's Season-High Drives YellowJackets to Victory

SEGUIN, Texas -- Connor Miller dropped a season-high 17 points as LeTourneau men's hoops defeated Texas Lutheran by a score of 88-74 at Memorial Gym in Seguin.

Miller, the junior from Houston, Texas, went 5-of-6 from the field (83.3 percent), all of which were 3-pointers, while also going a perfect 2-for-2 from the foul line.

Deonte Jackson scored a game-high 24 points, his fifth 20-plus point effort this season, while Teigan Edwards added 12 and Walker Blaine scored 10. Logan Brinkoeter led in rebounds with seven, while Jackson paced the team in assists with six.

As a team, LeTourneau made shots at impressive clips, shooting 51.6 percent (32-for-62) from the field, 52 percent from 3-point range (13-for-25), and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the charity stripe.

The first half got off to an excellent start for the YellowJackets (6-2), who opened the game with a 17-2 run in the first 6:04 of play. Miller hit three of his five 3-pointers in this stretch to propel the offense. Texas Lutheran (2-5) was unable to mount a retort, allowing LeTourneau to open an even bigger advantage, leading by as many as 26 at one point.

The YellowJackets coasted the rest of the half, closing the half in front by 19, 48-29.

After an 8-0 run by the Bulldogs in the second half closed the gap to 13 with 12:53 to go, LeTourneau answered with an 12-2 run to push the lead back to 23. Edwards scored eight of his 12 points in this run, hitting two 3-pointers and a layup to help the YellowJackets start to pull away.

After a Blaine 3-pointer made the lead 24 with just under five minutes remaining, all LeTourneau had to do was put it in cruise. They did so, with the Bulldogs hitting some late shots to make it closer, but the YellowJackets prevailed, nonetheless.

Texas Lutheran was led by Trey Blackmore in points with 16, Allen Easton and Mason Wallace in rebounds with eight, and Isaac Orozco and Wallace in assists with four.
