SEGUIN, Texas --
Timothy Black's match-clinching win at No. 6 singles lifted the LeTourneau men's tennis team secured a perfect weekend with a 5-4 win at Texas Lutheran on Saturday at the Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center.
LeTourneau (2-0) remained unbeaten through the first weekend of the spring.
Black not only notched the match-clincher, but it was the freshman's first collegiate singles win. Black had to fight off a strong challenge from Texas Lutheran's JT Figueroa, but outlasted the Bulldogs' No. 6 player with a 7-5, 7-6(6) victory.
The win capped a back-and-forth match.
LeTourneau took two points in doubles play.
Zach Farris and
Chase Rogers were 8-4 winners over Cashton Herrera and Eric Moninger at the top flight, while Black and
John Lewis earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Jackson Leslie and Xavier Cristan.
The YellowJackets went ahead 4-2 in the match with victories at flights one and two. Farris took down Logan Randall by a 6-2, 6-2 final at the top spot and Rogers was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 2 over Cristan.
Texas Lutheran (0-3) battled back to even the match at 4-4, but Black's clincher at No. 6 thwarted the rally as the YellowJackets picked up their second win in as many days.

LeTourneau has its home opener on Feb. 17 against McMurry (10 a.m.) in a non-conference match.
