LONGVIEW, Texas -- Battling cold temperatures, the LeTourneau women's tennis team took its second win in as many days as the YellowJackets defeated McMurry, 6-3, on Saturday at the Davis Tennis Courts.
The match does not count towards ASC standings as the teams are in separate divisions.
LeTourneau moves to 3-1 and marks the second straight year the YellowJackets have won three of the first four matches of the season. It was LeTourneau's first win over McMurry since 2018.
LeTourneau nearly took all three doubles, but led 2-1 heading into singles.
Megan LeBlanc and
Grace Rogers held down the top spot with their 8-3 win over McMurry's Bridgette Fly and Jenna Vincent.
Isa Casso and
Elizabeth Moreau outlasted Kaylee Connally and Karitza Bencomo, 8-5, at No. 2.
McMurry took the No. 3 flight as the War Hawks' McKenzie Carroll and K'Linda Mason defeated
Clara Brisman Taylor and
Anatole Hurta in a tiebreak, 8-7(3).
After McMurry evened the match in singles, Casso gave the lead back to the YellowJackets with her 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3 over Bencomo. Rogers extended the lead to 4-2 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vincent at No. 2.
Moreau claimed the match-clincher at the No. 4 flight with her 6-1, 7-6(0) victory over Carroll.
Hurta earned a three-set victory at the No. 5 spot with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 win over Connally.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau heads to Belton next Friday to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor in a non-conference match (1 p.m.).
