Men's Tennis Finishes Hilton Head Trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The LeTourneau men's tennis team finished its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head earlier this week. The YellowJackets played four matches, three against Division III foes and one against an NAIA member, and went 0-4 on the trip.

In the trip's opener, LeTourneau fell to Lake Forest by a 6-3 final. Zach Farris and Chase Rogers held down the top spot in doubles and took an 8-3 victory, while Timothy Black and John Lewis were 8-6 winners at No. 3 to help LeTourneau to a 2-1 match lead.

Rogers picked up his second win of the match as he toppled Lake Forest's Bernardo Aguiar 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot. Farris was defeated in three sets at the top flight and Liam Wedge narrowly fell at No. 4 as Lake Forest rallied for the win.

LeTourneau faced NAIA foe Georgetown College later on Monday and fell 9-0. Farris and Rogers fell in a tiebreak at the top spot in doubles, while Farris again battled at No. 1 singles before falling in three sets.

In a 6-3 loss to Greenville on Tuesday, Rogers again notched two wins. He and Farris were 8-5 winners at No. 1 doubles before Rogers took a 7-6, 6-1 win over Rafael Rodriguez at the No. 2 spot. LeTourneau's final point came from Wedge at the No. 4 flight with his 6-1, 7-5 win over Luke Motsinger.

The YellowJackets concluded the trip on Wednesday with a 7-2 loss to Asbury. Farris and Rogers took down Asbury's top tandem by an 8-5 final. Rogers then continued his strong play with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Franco Patino at No. 2 singles.
