AUSTIN, Texas --
Hailee Leger tossed a one-hit shutout in the opener and then had a go-ahead three-run double in game two as the offense came alive to lead the LeTourneau softball team to two wins at Concordia Texas in ASC play on Friday.
LeTourneau took the opener, 2-0, before rallying for an 8-4 win in the nightcap.
LeTourneau (5-5, 2-0 ASC) has won five of its last six games.
GAME ONE: LeTourneau 2, Concordia 0
Hailee Leger was masterful in the circle as she allowed just one hit in her complete-game effort and LeTourneau scored twice in the sixth inning to come away with a 2-0 victory.
Leger (2-2) went the distance for a second straight start and allowed only an infield single in the sixth inning. The right-hander threw 84 pitches and struck out three while issuing one walk in the win.
It was Leger's fifth career shutout and her 20th career complete game.
In a scoreless game in the sixth, the YellowJackets broke through.
Kylie Grisham led off with a single and stole second before
Laney Taylor's single put runners at the corners with nobody out. A passed ball on the next hitter scored Grisham and gave LeTourneau a 1-0 lead.
Leger helped her own cause as she drove in pinch-runner
Jaci Taylor with a grounder that was mishandled by the Concordia shortstop to make it 2-0.
Leger worked around a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth and then got the host Tornados in order in the seventh to complete the win.
Grisham, Taylor,
Payton Bauer, and
Lexi Hutchins all had a hit apiece for the YellowJackets. Grisham also stole two bases.
Mayson Post (2-1) got the loss in the circle for the Tornados as she also went seven innings and allowed one earned run on four hits.
GAME TWO: LeTourneau 8, Concordia 4
A three-run fifth inning and three more runs in the sixth propelled LeTourneau to an 8-4 win in the nightcap to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Down 3-2 with the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth inning, Leger was called upon to pinch-hit and the senior came through at the plate. Leger ripped a double to right-center field to clear the bases and give the YellowJackets a 5-3 lead.
In the sixth, Bauer tallied a two-out RBI single that plated Grisham before Hutchins launched her second homer of the season, a two-run shot, to make it 8-3.
Bauer had two hits and two RBIs in the win, while Hutchins and
Alexa Neilon each had two hits in the 12-hit attack for the YellowJackets.
Taylor (2-1) picked up the win in the circle as she went all seven innings and scattered five hits and four runs with no walks and two strikeouts.
Emma Chavez (2-1) got the loss in relief. Kylie Kirk had the lone extra-base hit for the Tornados with her solo home run in the sixth inning.
