AUSTIN, Texas-- The LeTourneau softball team fell on the road in the series finale with Concordia, 9-4, on Saturday afternoon.
Concordia (8-5, 1-2 ASC) took a lead early in the first after LeTourneau (5-6, 2-1 ASC) left two runners stranded in the top half.
The Tornados scored one run on two hits after a stolen base to make it 1-0.
The YellowJackets answered in the second inning as Lexi Hutchins got on base with a single to left. This allowed Leighton Landreth to crush one over the fence in center field for a two-run homer, her first of the season to put LeTourne ahead 2-1.
Concordia was able to take advantage of a pair of errors in the bottom of the second as they scored three unearned runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Kylie Grisham kicked off the third inning with a leadoff single. Laney Taylor then brought her all the way around with her RBI double out to center field to bring the deficit back to one (4-3).
Taylor stole third base after the Tornado pitching change. Payton Bauer then put a ball in play for an RBI as Taylor made it home to tie the game at 4-4.
A pair of empty frames before the bottom of the fifth where Concordia scored three runs on five hits to take a 7-4 lead. The Tornados scored two more in the sixth on two hits and an error to bring us to the final score of 9-4.
Maddie Flanery went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of stolen bases. Hutchins went 2-of-3.
Hailee Leger started in the circle for LeTourneau as she went 4.1 innings. Leger allowed seven hits, six runs, three earned, with two strikeouts.
Laney Taylor went 1.0 innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and struck out one batter.
Hannah Decker finished the game in the circle with 0.2 innings, one hit, one run, and one walk.
Leger (2-3) was credited with the loss.
Kylie Kirk started with the ball for the Tornados. She went 2.0 innings, allowed six hits, four earned runs, and struck out two.
Mayson Post (3-1) came in relief as she went 5.0 scoreless innings and was credited with the win.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau will travel to face Southwestern with a doubleheader slated for Wednesday (3 p.m.).
