LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team fell 9-1 to No. 5 ranked East Texas Baptist on Friday night.
LeTourneau took the first lead of the game when Blake Vice took the first pitch and knocked it out of the yard to make it 1-0 in the bottom of the third.
The home run was Vice's third of the year.
East Texas Baptist (22-6, 12-1 ASC), ranked No. 5 in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, scored four runs on four hits and an error in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead that would eventually be stretched to 9-1 after a grand slam in the top of the sixth for the last runs scored on the evening.
Dalton Pickett (3-3) pitched 5.0 innings and got four strikeouts before Camden Miller came in relief and finished the game notching five strikeouts.
Jagger Neely (6-1) took the mound for the Tigers and pitched 7.0 innings, allowed five hits, one earned run, and had four strikeouts.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau will wrap up the series with ETBU in a doubleheader Saturday (1 p.m.).
