SHERMAN, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's tennis team got back on the winning side on Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Austin College at the Russell Tennis Center in Sherman.
LeTourneau (4-9) took a pair of default points, but cruised through singles and doubles to collect the non-conference win.
Zach Farris and
Chase Rogers did their usual business at the No. 1 flight in doubles with an 8-1 win over Austin's Trey Salyer and Evan Pezirtzoglou. The duo is 12-3 overall and has won six straight matches together.
Alex Barrero and
Brayden Money held off Joel Colunga and Zeneth Mata at the No. 2 spot, 8-4, as LeTourneau took a 3-0 match lead.
In singles, the YellowJackets continued to cruise.
Farris downed Salyer with ease in a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the top spot, his fourth win of the year at the flight. Rogers also coasted in his match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Pezirtzoglou at No. 2 for his 10th win of the year at the second position.
Barrero,
Liam Wedge, and
John Lewis also took wins.
Barrero defeated Colunga at No. 3 by a 6-3, 6-1 final, while Wedge won by a 6-1, 6-2 score over Mata at No. 4. Lewis capped the win with a straight-set victory over Mario Diaz at the No. 5 spot.
LeTourneau has won six straight over Austin College (1-9) since 2019.
