JACKSON, Miss. -- LeTourneau women's soccer team tied Millsaps, 2-2, on Tuesday evening at Harper Davis Field.
Shelby Smith and
Gabriella Sanchez found the back of the net for the YellowJackets.
After falling to an early deficit the YellowJackets were quickly able to eliminate the deficit in the 22nd minute with a score off the foot of Smith.
Sarah Wyatt assisted with a crisp pass inside the eighteen to allow her teammate to score her first career goal. Wyatt notched her first career assist with this brilliant pass.
The YellowJackets would again find themselves trailing after Suzana Buzbee tallied her second goal of the match. However, the Majors lead would be short lived as
Gabriella Sanchez tied the game in the 86th minute with a free kick goal. Sanchez put her body on the line drawing a foul just outside the box. She would capitalize on this opportunity scoring her first goal of the season, and the seventh of her career.
LeTourneau (0-3-1) played a pair of keepers in this match.
Kelauna Cruz played 45 minutes and recorded five saves.
Abi King recorded 45 minutes and tallied a single save. Both King and Cruz allowed a goal while in net for the YellowJackets.
Millsaps (0-4-1) keeper Emily Lozano marked six saves and allowed a pair of goals in the match.
