Cruz Records Eight Saves in Women's Soccer Loss

IRVING, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team fell 2-0 at The University of Dallas, despite eight saves by goalkeeper Kelauna Cruz. LeTourneau (0-4-1) posted five shots on goal in the loss but were unable to find the back of the net, during this road match on Friday evening.

The Crusaders were able to jump out to an early lead, scoring the opening goal off the foot of Claire Reed in just the 14th minute. They would however, quickly be forced to protect their slim advantage as Shelby Smith posted a shot on goal. Forcing Crusaders keeper Ella Charles to make an early save.

The University of Dallas (2-2-0) continued to sustain offensive, but their efforts were continuously turned away by Cruz, who notched three first half saves. This effort in net would allow the YellowJackets to keep the deficit to just one at the half.

LeTourneau would open the second half and quickly push the ball into the offensive zone, posting two quick. The first shot was attempted by last years leading goal scorer Chanel Kemball-Cook, this shot missed high right. Kemball-Cook's scoring attempt was quickly succeeded by Claire Martinez who tallied a shot on goal.

The Crusaders would score thier second goal off of a penalty kick in the 69th minute giving Reed her second goal of the match.  Cruz would post five second half saves keeping the YellowJackets within striking distance of the home Crusaders.
