LONGVIEW, Texas -- A cold shooting night deterred the upset hopes of the LeTourneau women's basketball team as the YellowJackets fell to ASC-leading East Texas Baptist, 74-42, in the Hwy. 80 Rivalry on Thursday night inside Solheim Arena.
LeTourneau (7-13, 1-3 ASC) played tight with ETBU (17-4, 4-0 ASC) through the first two quarters despite shooting woes.
The YellowJackets trailed 13-5 early on and later by double-digits in the second quarter. A
LaTerra Satcher jumper with one minute left in the second got the deficit below 10 before ETBU grabbed a 13-point edge (31-18) at the break.
ETBU extended the margin to 20 in the third quarter and LeTourneau was unable to trim the deficit further.
Future Asevedo led LeTourneau with eight points to go with five rebounds and two assists. Satcher,
Kylie Weeks, and
Makenzie Covey each had seven points. Weeks added three assists and Satcher grabbed four rebounds.
LeTourneau finished the night connecting on 25 percent (14-of-56) from the field.
ETBU was led by 13 points from Kadia Ward and 11 points from Payton Hicks. The Tigers shot 46.2 percent (30-of-65) from the floor with seven 3-pointers.
