LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's hoops used a complete team effort to cruise to a 90-32 victory over visiting College of Biblical Studies on Tuesday night at Solheim Arena.
The 90 points were the highest total in a game for the YellowJackets since Dec. 30, 2015, when they scored 93 in a win over Texas Lutheran.
While
LaTerra Satcher led the way with 11 points, all 15 players scored at least one basket during the game.
Brooklyn Iman had a team-high eight rebounds, plus
Sara Savage added four assists and three blocks.
Mariana Espinosa contributed three steals as well for the defense.
The YellowJackets started off on the right foot in the first quarter, leading by as many as 17 during the period.
Future Asevedo helped by scoring seven points in the quarter, and a late fastbreak bucket by
Alex Morales gave LeTourneau that 17-point lead as the quarter expired.Â
Sallie Moser got on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a layup that pushed the lead to 22, and then
Caitlyn Stanley and
Savannah Scruggs added baskets of their own later in the quarter to extend the lead to 29.
To punctuate the rally, with two minutes remaining before halftime,
Norah White scored her first collegiate basket, a 10-foot jumper from the baseline. White, who was formerly the team manager, worked hard and earned a varsity spot a few weeks ago, gaining a special opportunity to score the first of many baskets to come.
Makenzie Covey and
Gracie Hunter would also contribute scoring-wise in the period as the YellowJackets went into halftime up 50-14.
LeTourneau continued to pour in points in the third quarter, with
Kylie Weeks hitting an early 3-pointer and
Robbi Martinez scoring her first basket as a LeTourneau YellowJacket later in the period. Martinez, one of two transfers brought in this semester, showcased her scoring touch with six points, all in the third quarter.
The other transfer,
Briley Waters, would get her first points as a LeTourneau YellowJacket in the fourth quarter, knocking down a corner triple off a nice pass from Hunter. Waters would add another jumper later in the quarter to finish her LeTourneau debut with five points.Â
The defense did its job the rest of the way, and in total, held the Ambassadors to 15.2 percent shooting from the field while forcing 27 turnovers.
The leading scorer for the Ambassadors was Maria Rodriguez, who had 11 points. Kennedy Moore had a game-high 11 boards, and Kamiya Royal added 2 blocks.Â
