Volleyball Battles, Falls to Colorado College

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Despite a valiant effort by LeTourneau, every set goes in favor of the Colorado College Tigers as they sweep (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) the YellowJackets to open up the 2025 SCAC Crossover event.

The LeTourneau offense once again was an attack-by-committee as the team's 38 kills were spread between seven players, with Kaylyn Taylor and Aubree McCann leading the way with nine each.

McCann hit .333 while Emma Smith added seven kills with a .385 hitting percentage.

Emily Mullin tossed out 19 assists, while Hailee Perry followed with 15.

LeTourneau (14-7, 6-4 SCAC) would open the match with an impressive run, leading late in the first set 21-11.

The Tigers would not go down quietly, though, running off an absurd 13 straight points; and while the YellowJackets would tie things up at 23 points, it wasn't enough to stop the Tigers.

Colorado College would finish the set off with back-to-back swings.

The second set started as a completely different story, with neither team able to put together a string of three straight through the first third of the set.

With LeTourneau leading 9-7, Colorado would be the first to gain any momentum, stringing six points together. The YellowJackets would answer to tie the set up 15-15, but Colorado College would answer each Jacket point with two or three of their own to take the set 25-20.

The final set was once again a seesaw of momentum, with each team doing just enough to keep the score tight.

With Colorado College (14-9, 6-5 SCAC) leading 17-15, an Ashlyn Walther kill would bring it within one, but it shortly became all Tiger, specifically Carolyn Dormady.

Dormady would rattle off five kills in the next six points, creating an insurmountable lead for the YellowJackets to overcome.

For the Tigers, Dormady would lead the match with 16 kills, followed by Camille Sherrill with 11.
