SHERMAN, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer fell to Austin College, 3-1, on Friday evening to close out their regular season.
The YellowJackets (8-7-2, 3-6-1 SCAC) could not overcome a three-goal scoring burst from the 'Roos (7-5-3, 4-4-2 SCAC) in the second half, and while a late rally did take place, it was not enough.
The loss to Austin College eliminates LeTourneau from the SCAC Tournament, but let that not diminish the incredible successes that the YellowJackets accomplished in 2025.
This 2025 campaign was just the fifth season in program history where LeTourneau had a winning record, and their plus-11 goal differential is the best since 2018 and the third-best in program history.
On top of that, the team accumulated four SCAC players of the week, three defensive (
Clarissa Martinez,
Kinsey Fulks twice), and one offensive (
Chanel Kemball-Cook).
In her first season, head coach
Karrigan Falber and her fearless assistants
Nicole Graubard,
Callie McKinney, and
Miguel Cabrera, brought the energy, encouragement, and tactical knowledge necessary to achieve these successes, and earned themselves a great benchmark to build off of.
The match against the 'Roos got off to a strong start offensively for the Jackets, who generated two shots on goal in the first 6:03. However, both
Avery Gortney and
Brandy Moran's shots were stopped by Austin keeper Kieran McFarland.
Kemball-Cook added the third YellowJacket shot on goal later in the half, but it was saved once again. Fulks would face her first shot at the 35 minute mark, and was up to the task, keeping the half scoreless.
The 'Roos went to work quickly after the second half clock started, however, scoring two goals in the first 4:11 to put the pressure on LeTourneau. The YellowJackets generated three shots in response, two from Moran and one from
Zoe Harbison, but none found the back of the net.
Laney Lambert added the match-sealing goal in the 78th minute for Austin, and while a late push produced a
Michelle Olivas goal -- her third of the season -- The 'Roos ultimately emerged victorious.
Fulks made three saves in total, while McFarland stopped five for Austin.
