LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer was upended by McMurry, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at the LETU Soccer Field.
The YellowJackets (5-5-1, 0-4-0 SCAC) gained a lead early in the match, but the War Hawks (5-2-2, 3-0-1 SCAC) offense would prove too much, as they tallied three unanswered goals to take the win.
The first half was quiet for the first few minutes of action until
Zoe Harbison sent a long pass downfield in the direction of
Reagan Parks. Parks took the pass and rifled a shot into the left side of the net, putting LeTourneau up 1-0.
That lead would hold for the next 6:56, but a foul inside the box by LeTourneau gave McMurry a chance to tie it up, and Alexis Lira would do just that, converting the penalty kick to make it 1-1.
The 1-1 deadlock would continue throughout the remainder of the half, with the War Hawks firing four shots off target.
McMurry's Laila Brown would break the tie 7:32 into the second half, slipping a shot past the defense and into the net to make it 2-1.
Kinsey Fulks would stop the next War Hawk chance, and then the defense did its part, holding the McMurry attack to two off target shots for the next chunk of the half.
However, Genevieve Dorisami would put the match away with her first collegiate goal in the 76th minute, and while
Chanel Kemball-Cook was able to create a late chance, it was not enough.
Fulks made four saves during the course of the match, while
Michelle Olivas,
Sophia Merjil, and
Clarissa Martinez played all 90 minutes.
