Season Closes for Men's Soccer in SCAC Tournament Semifinals

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Two second-half goals from No. 2 seeded Texas Lutheran was enough to propel the Bulldogs to a 2-0 victory over the No. 6 seeded LeTourneau men's soccer team in a SCAC Tournament semifinal on Friday night at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.

LeTourneau ends the season 7-7-5 overall.

The YellowJackets, making their first appearance in the SCAC Tournament in the program's first year in the conference, have advanced to at least the semifinals in each of the last three conference tournaments.

Facing a challenging Texas Lutheran (11-4-3) squad, LeTourneau held off the Bulldogs through the first 45 minutes. Edson Camara Martinez made three saves in the opening half and LeTourneau limited the Bulldogs to just six shots.

In the second half, Texas Lutheran applied more pressure and finally broke through. Carson Alldredge notched the eventual game-winner in the 52nd minute, his first goal of the year, assisted by Diego Sanchez to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.

In the 89th minute, Texas Lutheran added an insurance goal on Jesus Carrillo's sixth score of the season to extend the margin to 2-0.

Joshua Van Wagener and Jeffrey Boedeker each had shots on target in the first half that were saved by Texas Lutheran keeper Ernesto Avila. After the Bulldogs' first goal in the second half, Caleb Nelson and Kristian Princ had looks in the 54th minute but neither could find the back of the net.

Nelson and Bridge Mwambukiri added late attempts in the 85th and 88th minutes, respectively, as LeTourneau sought the equalizer but Avila made saves on both.

Texas Lutheran held a 20-11 shot advantage and 12-6 in shots on goal. Camara Martinez finished with a season-high 10 saves, while Avila had six.

Texas Lutheran advances to the SCAC Tournament championship match on Sunday vs. No. 1 seed Colorado College.

Under first-year head coach TJ Milby, LeTourneau produced its fifth season of .500 or better overall record in the last six years. The YellowJackets had six total players earn SCAC season awards.
