Grambling Downs Women's Hoops in Exhibition

GRAMBLING, La. -- Playing its second exhibition against a Division I opponent this season, the LeTourneau women's basketball team fell to Grambling State, 97-33, on Monday afternoon inside the Hobdy Assembly Center.

It was a regular season contest for Grambling (3-10), while LeTourneau used its second allowed exhibition of the year.

Kylie Weeks led LeTourneau with 12 points and six steals. Taylor Brown came off the bench to score five points, including a 3-pointer, while Sallie Moser and Breeanna Hoffman each had three rebounds. Mariana Espinosa added two assists and four points.

LeTourneau hung with Grambling in the first quarter as a bucket from Weeks with 54 seconds left in the period cut the host Tiger lead to 19-11. Brown converted a driving layup later to make it 20-13 before a last-second basket from Grambling's Zhaniah Ervin made it 22-13 entering the second.

Grambling was just too much over the final three periods, though. The Tigers' size won over as Grambling extended the lead in all three quarters.

Shaniah Nunn led all players with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Grambling win. The Tigers shots 55.6 percent (40-of-72) from the field and held a 60-22 rebounding edge.
