MARSHALL, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's basketball team closed the regular season on Thursday with an 81-46 loss at No. 23/23 East Texas Baptist in ASC action inside Ornelas Gym.
LeTourneau (8-17, 2-6 ASC) clinched the No. 4 seed in the ASC Tournament and will host No. 5 seed Howard Payne in the tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Solheim Arena (time TBA).
LeTourneau will host a conference tournament game for the first time since winning the Big State title on its home floor in 1998.
Mariana Espinosa drained a jumper on LeTourneau's first possession of the night to give the YellowJackets a 2-0 lead, but ETBU took the lead for good on Jayla Hall's bucket at the 7:32 mark and the host Tigers never trailed again.
ETBU (21-4, 8-0 ASC) clinched the outright conference regular season title and will host the final rounds of the ASC Tournament. The Tigers are ranked No. 23 in both the D3hoops.com Top 25 and the WBCA Top 25 this week.
Sallie Moser finished with a career-high 11 points for LeTourneau as she scored seven in the first half and went 5-of-11 from the field with four rebounds.
Future Asevedo added a team-high 12 points with six rebounds and three assists in the loss.
Kylie Weeks totaled eight points and Espinosa collected seven points with four rebounds and four assists.
LeTourneau had 12 assists on 17 made field goals and went 8-of-11 from the free throw line.
LeTourneau limited ETBU to just 16 percent (4-of-25) from 3-point range, but the Tigers capitalized on their size with 48 points in the paint.
Tiffany Bickford and Hannah Ayala had 12 points apiece to lead ETBU, while Macey Jones and Madison Hurta had 10 points apiece. The Tigers connected on 39.7 percent (29-of-73) from the field.
