Women's Tennis Loses Close Contest to Carroll

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Women's tennis lost a close contest to Carroll on Sunday afternoon, 4-3.

The YellowJackets are now 4-5 overall, while Carroll improves to 7-6.

The match began with Isa Casso and Elizabeth Moreau falling at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, to Natasa Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio, but Emma Boulanger and Maddie Nichol defeated Gracie Niebler and Makayla Counsell, 7-6 (3) at No. 2 doubles to give LeTourneau the opportunity to snag the doubles point.

However, despite a close game, Aalaiya Jacklin and Erin Horzewski won 7-5 over Kylie Weeks and Chloe Tesser, giving Carroll the point.

At the singles slate, Casso would fall in a tiebreak (4-6, 6-1, 10-8) to Pupovac, and Moreau also would come up just short in a tiebreak at No. 2 singles (3-6, 6-3, 10-7) against Trifilio.

Boulanger would take a singles win at No. 3 with an 8-4 victory against Niebler to pull the score back to 3-1, but Counsell would fell Moreau 8-2 at No. 4 singles to clinch the match for Carroll.

Weeks and Tesser would take the final pair of singles matches, however, wrapping up the match on a positive note. Weeks defeated Horzewski 7-6 (3), while Tesser dominated Laurel Nelson, 5-1.
