PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The LeTourneau baseball team had three players record multi-hit games, but could not overcome a late offensive outburst from Concordia Wisconsin in a 16-6 loss on Saturday afternoon at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
It was the first all-time meeting between LeTourneau (6-8) and Concordia (7-5).
Luke Land went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the YellowJackets, while
Austin Wiederhold and
Dane Jones had two hits apiece.
Xander Nabors added a triple and two RBIs in the loss.
Concordia struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning on RBI singles from Tyler Brandenburg and Matt Miller to go ahead 2-0. LeTourneau got a run back in the second on a
Hayden Norris RBI double, but the Falcons extended the lead to 7-1 in the fourth inning.
LeTourneau scored three times in the fifth inning to cut into the deficit. Nabors tripled home two runs to kickstart the rally before Land delivered an RBI single that scored Nabors to make it 7-4.
That was as close as LeTourneau got as Concordia scored four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to pull away.
Dalton Pickett (0-1) made the start and picked up the loss for LeTourneau.Â
Zach Slome (1-2) went six innings in his start for the Falcons and Arthur Liebau threw the final three innings to collect the save. Josh Aguiniga and Colyn Lessila had three hits each as the Falcons totaled 16.
