ARLINGTON, Texas -- LeTourneau women's tennis fell to Hardin-Simmons in their ASC opener, 7-0, at the Arlington Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
The YellowJackets and Cowgirls met in Arlington for the match, rescheduled from its previous date of Feb. 15.
The lone victory for the YellowJackets came at No. 3 doubles, as
Kylie Weeks and
Chloe Tesser defeated Halle Smith and Addyson Tylaska, 7-6 (6), but it was not enough to upend a tough Cowgirl squad.
Hardin-Simmons took the other two of the three doubles matches to gain the early advantage, as
Isa Casso and
Elizabeth Moreau lost to Laurel Coleman and Jonnah Smith, 6-3, and
Emma Boulanger and
Maddie Nichol fell to Taylor Levy and Sydney Tomlin, 6-1.
Casso attempted to fight back in her singles match at the No. 1 slot, but fell in a close first set, 7-5, and then could not seize the momentum in the second set, falling 6-3. Moreau fell at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2, to Jonnah Smith.
Boulanger could not overcome Tomlin at No. 3 singles, falling 6-2, 6-1, and Nichol dropped the No. 4 singles slot to Levy, 6-3, 6-0. Weeks took three games in the first set of her match as well at No. 5 singles, but ultimately lost 6-3, 6-1 to Emma Curiel.
Triniti McBride of the Cowgirls would defeat Tesser at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2 to complete the sweep.
