HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- LeTourneau women's tennis took both matches of their Saturday slate, defeating Penn State Behrend, 5-2, and Gordon, 6-1.
The YellowJackets are now 4-4 overall, while the Lions are now 10-3 and the Scots fall to 6-6.
MATCH ONE - LeTourneau 5, Penn State Behrend 2
The YellowJackets swept the doubles slate and never looked back, defeating the Lions 5-2.
Isa Casso and
Elizabeth Moreau set the tone with their doubles sweep of Tamanna Sharma and Enisa Silijkovic at the No. 1 spot, with No. 2 team
Emma Boulanger and
Maddie Nichol beating Lauren Burkley and Lindsey Kerlin, 6-3, and No. 3 tandem
Kylie Weeks and
Emmy Phillips winning over Triss Righi and Keri Saulino, 6-3.
Casso followed up with a 6-0, 6-0 clean sweep of Sharma at No. 1 singles, and then Boulanger conquered Burkley 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Weeks clinched the match by upending Saulino 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Phillips sealed the deal with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Righi at No. 6.
Moreau would fall to Silijkovic at No. 2 singles (7-5, 6-3) and Nichol fell to Kerlin at No. 4 singles in a close five-set tiebreak (6-2, 3-6, 10-8).
MATCH TWO - LeTourneau 6, Gordon 1
LeTourneau took five of six singles matches, with three of them only requiring two sets, to take a commanding 6-1 win over Gordon on Saturday.
Isa Casso and
Elizabeth Moreau took the No. 1 doubles slate, 6-2, over Serena Ross and Annette Kim, and after a loss at No. 2 doubles, rebounded to take the doubles point behind
Kylie Weeks and
Chloe Tesser's 6-4 win over Makayla Otey and Amanda Kim.
Casso would complete her day 4-0 between singles and doubles, taking her singles match 6-1, 6-3 over Ross. Moreau would win her match after only one set due to Annette Kim retiring before the second set, putting the YellowJackets just a point away from the win.
Nichol would provide the point they needed with her tiebreak win over Otey, 7-6 (5), 6-2, 10-3. Weeks would follow with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Amanda Kim, and
Chloe Tesser earned a win in her lone match of the day's slate, a 6-4, 6-0 conquest of opponent Gianna Hallam.
Emma Boulanger and Nichol fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, against Chloe Hanley and Hallam. Boulanger also was defeated in singles, 6-2, 6-0, by Hanley.
