MATCH TWO - LeTourneau 4, Gordon 3
The YellowJackets eked out a 4-3 win behind four singles wins over Gordon in match two of the Saturdy slate.
After the Scots took the doubles point to put LeTourneau down early, the players gathered and responded in singles play with four wins.
Zach Farris set the bar with his 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jeffrey Bodner, and
Andrew Reiman followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Vittal Harith.
Fernando Vazquez seemed to then give the YellowJackets the commanding advantage with his tight 6-4, 7-5 win against Joshua Noel.
However, Gordon had other plans, winning both the No. 4 (Lucas Barnes, 6-4, 7-6 over
Liam Wedge) and No. 5 singles (Gabriel Guzman, 6-0, 6-3 over
Diego Maldonado) sets to set up the pivotal final match between
Timothy Black and Carleton Riester.
Black would gain the early advantage with his close 6-4 win in the first set, which seemed to take the rest of the life out of the opposition. Black would nail down the win with a 6-1 win in set two, proving his clutch gene once again.
In doubles, Farris and Vazquez were defeated, 6-3, by Bodner and Noel, Maldonaldo and Reiman beat Harith and Guzman, 6-3, and Black and
Brayden Money lost 6-2 versus James Wellborn and Percy Martinez.
