MY LETU STORY: Caedmon Liebengood

NOTE: This is part of a series on letuathletics.com with feature stories written by senior student-athletes, or in their final year, about their time at LeTourneau and the impact it has made on them.

Being a YellowJacket has meant everything to me.

I can’t imagine what my life would be like without LeTourneau. This is the place where I have been drawn so much closer into relationship with God and have started living an abundant life with Him. Being a part of the basketball team at LeTourneau has come with so many blessings. We strive to embody Romans 12:10, which says, “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourself.”

In my time on the team, I’ve gotten to experience life in a community like no other. The tight-knit bond we have with one another cannot be replicated in any other setting. Going to battle with my teammates and experiencing the mountain tops and the valleys that come with each season has brought us into a special relationship with one another. It’s been amazing to be able to have my basketball career culminate in a place with so many like-minded believers all striving after Christ.

I’m so grateful to God leading me to this place and allowing me to make the most out of this experience. So, yes, being a YellowJacket has meant a lot to me, and I know it has prepared me for the rest of my life with all that is to come.

Being a YellowJacket has given me so many amazing opportunities.

College basketball has taken me to various places around the United States. We played in Wisconsin during my freshman year, Oregon and Washington in my junior year, and Kentucky in my senior year. I’ve gotten to go to Israel and journey through the Holy Land and walk in the places where my Savior walked, lived, taught, died, and rose.

I’ve gotten to further my music and leadership experience by leading worship in the campus’ chapel services. Playing in a band has been one of the most joyful experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve gotten to write music for the school, perform in talent shows, and form so many great relationships through these musical opportunities.

I’ve gotten to study the Bible and study Theology and learn more about who God is and who we are. My time as a Scripture and Theology student has formed me as a person. It’s changed the way I understand the Lord, the complete narrative of the Bible, my purpose, identity, and belonging in this world.

I’ve gotten to participate in the Beach Reach mission trip four separate times and experience the joy of joining in on God’s mission in the world. I’ve gotten to be a part of the Passage Institute for Youth and Theology and help young believers grow in maturity in Christ. I’ve formed so many wonderful relationships which will carry on long after I leave this place.

The friendships I’ve made at LeTourneau are the ones I’ve always longed for, and God has revealed more and more His love for me through the people He’s brought into my life here. I will miss the movie nights, Bible studies, late-night Taco Bell runs, deep conversations, and the mundane life lived together.
