ANNUAL HONORS: R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award

By Andrew Mindeman, Associate AD for Communications

The R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award is given to the male or female who portrayed Christian leadership in the community, on campus, in the classroom and on campus -- all traits that were shown by the founder of the school, R.G. LeTourneau.

There is no better representative in 2024-25 than men's basketball senior Caedmon Liebengood.

From his all-conference seasons on the basketball court, to leading the campus worship team, serving the Longview community, to writing, recording, and producing his own album. Caedmon Liebengood has accomplished so much already, and the best is yet to come.

“RG LeTourneau was quoted as saying ‘You will never know what you can accomplish until you say a great big yes to the Lord.’ That is exactly what Caed has done in his time at LeTourneau,” said head coach James Wallace. “He has dedicated his entire experience to the Lord and left a legacy that won’t be soon forgotten.”

On the court, Liebengood was a standout for the YellowJackets.

He was a two-time All-ASC selection, ASC All-Tournament honoree, and an ASC Player of the Week. He averaged 15.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in 2024-25, shot 56.3 percent from the field – second-best in the ASC -- and made 27 3-pointers. Liebengood had 21 double-digit scoring games and three double-doubles this season. He had a season-high 29 points in a win over Sewanee on Nov. 22.

Over his playing career, Liebengood averaged 12.1 points (947 total) with 5.5 rebounds while shooting 54.8 percent from the field.

In the classroom, Liebengood excelled. Majoring in scripture and theology with a 3.92 GPA, he was the LeTourneau Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023-24. He is a four-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree, two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, and collected NABC Honors Court last season.

“More important than all the accolades and awards, Caed has been a lighthouse for his teammates and other peers on our campus,” added Wallace. “He is someone that people turn to and talk to, knowing that they will be met with grace and a godly perspective."

Liebengood was a chapel band leader for the last two years and led music for the new Student-Athlete Worship Nights which were established in 2023. He's also served as a spiritual mentor to his teammates throughout his career, while serving as an offseason team captain between his junior and senior years.

Off campus, Liebengood is a worship leader at his local church – One Hope Presbyterian Church – and has been a camp counselor with Passage Institute for Youth and Theology. He's participated in LeTourneau Beach Reach spring break mission trips all four years.

And, yes, even writing and producing his own album. Liebengood released “Joy, Brothers” in spring 2025.

“That was always RG LeTourneau’s approach, that every workplace is a mission field to share the Good News of Jesus Christ,” noted Wallace. "Caed has carried that mission and been an incredible leader on our campus for four years. We are thankful for the impact that he has made here at LeTourneau.”
